ADI HIDIRELLEZ

NAME HIDIRELLEZ
“Hıdırellez” is a holiday that heralds spring. It is a precious value that has survived to the present day with its traditions and rituals. Today, where it is difficult to survive with just the name, it is impossible not to breathe the festive scent that can survive with its actions. Is it the product of virtual reality in social media, where it is not possible to see happy people at other times, or where we do not see happy people apart from festivals in time? Cheerful people we can’t help but ask…
Some rituals from the past to this time and the observable aspects of these rituals today; “Bread, water and grains are left in the tray for abundance, fertility, luck and various intentions. Soil is taken from the anthill and put into the pouch. This pouch is also put in the kitchen. From lockers to wallets, many things are left open; All these rituals are for a fruitful period. Before sunrise, the dew on the flowers and leaves is collected and put into milk, the milk is fermented. Money is left in front of the window. Money hangs on the rose tree. The next day the money is taken, put in the wallet and not spent throughout the year. Green branches and flowers are hung in houses to protect them from evil. The locks are opened on the heads of the young women who have reached the age of marriage in order to open their fortunes, and the doors of the chests and cabinets in the house are left open. Rose oil is poured on the scarves. Even while telling, I have a cheerful expression on my face, the festive winds that I feel up to my fingertips are blowing. I can’t help but mention more. For example, that famous salty bread is baked and left on the roof. Young women intend to get married while they sleep. Khidr shows their spouses to marry in their dreams, it is believed. In the villages, morning prayer is performed on the day of Hidrellez, the fields are wandered, and people come to the warehouses and pray for blessings. If there is a drought, a prayer for rain is made. Nettle or green plants are hung in many places to get rid of bad energy. In order to be healthy, one should go to the streams and bathe early in the morning. In order for the wishes to come true, the picture of the object made is drawn on paper and hung on a branch of a rose tree or a model is made. Before sunrise, wish papers are thrown into the river, into the sea. In order to get rid of the bad energy of the whole year, a big fire is lit from old items and jumped over. Songs and folk songs are sung. Making wishes, circling around the tree, lighting candles, dancing. Colorful pieces of cloth are tied to the trees by making wishes. The patients are taken to green areas, taken around, and allowed to breathe. It rolls on the grass. In order to get rid of diseases, a swing is set up on the tree and swayed. Water is put in a bucket at night, washed with this water in the morning, or various herbs are gathered and washed with boiling water… It is a very precious day that we celebrate as the “Nowruz Festival” with many rituals that I can’t count yet but that I love to count. A happy sub-text is definitely read from the expressions on people’s faces.
It’s hard to find an anthill these days, especially in big cities… You can’t have a happy facial expression when the dew that is already falling is flowing from the leaves of artificial flowers. There is no roof left in big cities. If you try to go up to the roof, you will find yourself on the floor of a skyscraper. We do not leave any crops to fill the warehouses in the villages. It’s as if we have become accustomed to becoming a consumer society. That fire burned our country in the past years, not for festivities, but to the extent that it would destroy how many acres of forest. Let alone jumping over it, it jumped over many living things, added it to itself… Sick people?.. An epidemic came and how could people who could not breathe, who were intubated because they could not breathe, be happy? But rather than all this reality, there is virtual reality. Let alone hanging money bags on rosewood, we learn or cannot learn about virtual money, which is the most real part of virtual reality, where and how we will spend it, invest in it, in the reality we have lost. After a while, concepts such as “Nowruz Festival-Hıdırellez” will not be mentioned at all and will disappear into history. I also wanted to touch on these rituals that smell of history. Because “What is Hıdırellez, what is Nowruz Festival?” The answers to these questions are easily accessible on social media and the internet. What I really want to mention is; in the reality of your festivity, your reality that is festive.
There is one you, who is you,
There is only you, the one that contains you.
There is a truth, which is you,
There is only you, who swallows all this reality.
